& Vision
The mission of NO FEAR is to create “art for heart’s sake” by explicitly placing meaning and purpose at the heart of arts experiences.
We envision a future in which the WHO and WHY of artmaking, being participants and their intrinsic meanings and purposes for experiencing art, are re-prioritized into the WHAT and HOW of artmaking, being artistic works and their technical methods of production and presentation.
This integrative approach aims to renew the ancient, communal, and experiential nature of artmaking, and dissolve divisions between artists, audiences, educators, students, cultures, and societies at large.
Science
& Soul
Inspired by psychiatrist Carl Jung and his theory of individuation, NO FEAR’s conceptual framework for Experiential Arts and Learning (EA&L) aims to restore balance between the “Science” and “Soul” of artmaking.
EA&L reintegrates “Soul” back into the “Science” of artmaking by placing participants and their intrinsic meanings and purposes for experiencing art at the heart of arts experiences.
EA&L then turns its attention to the WHAT and HOW of artmaking, being the “Science” of artistic works and their technical methods of production and presentation.
While the “Science” of artmaking has undoubtedly led to remarkable artists creating remarkable artworks over the millennia — counterintuitively and often inadvertently — our scientific, technological, and intellectual ways have also fragmented artmaking (and mankind) in the process.
EA&L aims to remedy this modern phenomenon and renew the ancient, universal, and experiential nature of artmaking, which for hundreds of thousands of years, has served to connect, reflect, and relate us all.
