Mission
& Vision
The mission of NO FEAR is to place meaning and purpose at the heart of arts and arts education experiences, as an explicit means of connecting, reflecting, and relating human experiences.
We envision a future in which arts and arts education systems explicitly place meaning and purpose at the heart of arts experiences, being the WHO and WHY of artmaking, prior to integrating the WHAT and HOW of subject matters and methods of study.
This prioritization of participants and their intrinsic reasons for experiencing art, aims to restore balance between the “Science” and “Soul” of human artmaking, which despite becoming fragmented in modern times, are poised to reintegrate in purposeful and powerful ways.
Experiential Arts and Learning offers a playbook for this restorative process and NO FEAR stands committed to being a steward for this transformative change.
We invite you to join our growing community of partners as we work together to make “art for heart’s sake” throughout New Orleans and beyond.
Science
& Soul
Inspired by psychologist Carl Jung and his theory of individuation, NO FEAR’s conceptual framework for Experiential Arts and Learning (EA&L) works to reintegrate the “Science” and “Soul” of human artmaking.
It is often the case in westernized societies today, that “traditional” arts and arts education systems approach artmaking by way of the WHAT and HOW, being subject matters and their scientific methods of study and presentation.
While this metaphorical “Science Channel” has produced some of the most significant artistic works known to mankind, counterintuitively and often inadvertently, it has also caused us to lose reception with the WHO and WHY of artmaking, being meaning and purpose.
NO FEAR believes that by explicitly reintegrating “Soul” into the heart of arts and arts education systems, being the WHO and WHY of artmaking, prior to integrating the WHAT and HOW of subject matters and their scientific methods of study, that EA&L can flip the switch on this metaphorical “Science Channel” and guide participants back to their inner “Soul Stations” once again.
